Born in Sringeri, South
India in 1954, Sri Arun grew up and completed his studies
in Bangalore, where he started his career at a Chartered
Accountant company. It was around this time that he developed
allergy towards dust and developed Asthama, which became
quite severe during rainy season.
At a colleague's suggestion he decided to try Yoga as a
remedy and got initiated into Yoga in 1974 by late Sri S.Janakiraman
at the Rashtrothana Shareerika Siksha Kendra, Bangalore.
A great believer in destiny, little did he know that this
turn of events was destined to change the course of his
life. Since then association with Yoga soon turned into
a passion and got him on a Yogic journey.
He started teaching Yoga in 1976 at the Rashtrothana Shareerika
Siksha Kendra, where he gave the class in front of his Pujya
Guruji Dr B.K.S. IYENGAR in the year 1978.
Teaching Yoga was a different and a very challenging experience.
To quote him in his own words "As I started teaching
Yoga, I saw different kinds of human bodies and thousands
of complex minds; despite the apparent similarities between
people I saw that each individual has very distinct needs.I
appreciate the challenge of shaping body and mind of my
every student".
The idea of teaching and applying Iyengar
Yoga to meet and suit each individual's unique needs appealed
to him immensely. He knew then with certainity that Yoga
has become his true vocation in his life. He decided to
spread and teach Yoga to common people.

He continued teaching
at the Rashtrothana Shareerika Siksha Kendra as Chief Yoga
Instructor for almost ten years. For his outstanding grasp
of the subject and teaching skills the state government
and various institutions have honored him with the numerous
titles. Some of them are :
-
Yoga Praveena,
-
Yoga Bhaskara,
-
Yoga Sri,
-
Adarsha
Yogacharya, and
- Rajyotsava Award.
To Propagate Iyengar
Yoga he has given many lecture-demonstrations in School,
College, Hospital, Factory and Organization. To mention
few St.Johan Medical College and Hospital, NIMHANS, Calicut
Medical College, Karnataka High Court (for Judges), Mico
Factory. He has written 15 Books on Yoga in kannada, one
is translated into English with title “YOGA IN DAY
TO DAY LIFE “.
